CCEU Report

I greet you on behalf of your co-workers in the classified unit. This semester has been fast-forward all of the way. It is starting to feel like the time has come where we are able to start taking action. We have done our part of gathering to do lists, listening, collaborating, and fine tuning things. It is now time to do something that shifts our focus onto the things we do versus the conversation about the things we want to do. We are well positioned because now we have all of the players in place committed to being a part of the organism that is Cabrillo.

We are at a point in the cycle of education where we can actually put plans together that foster growth, development and institutional vitality. We have to separate the conversations about decreased FTEs and how to respond to our low numbers from the conversation about growing the college in the areas that can sustain, maintain, and be used to usher in new growth. I am not saying stop responding to our enrollment numbers, but let’s start figuring out what we can do to make things better. Dare I say “change is good” in an educational environment? Yeseth, I do. What is even better about me saying it is people are ready to make it happen.
