Women’s Rights are Human Rights

We are always in contact and work with political and community groups in Santa Cruz County that stand in support of Women’s Health choices and reproductive rights. The leak that came out of the United States Supreme Court about Roe v. Wade has led to demonstrations across the Country and included actions Santa Cruz and Monterey. These demonstrations came about rather rapidly. We passed the information along to our CCFT Council as soon as we were informed.

Our State and National Unions have stood in support of Women’s Health Choices and Reproductive Rights, in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.  AFT (American Federation of Teachers) President, Randi Weingarten, shared a statement, press release, and resolution about the defeat of Senate Bill 4132 , Women’s Health Protection Act, which didn’t receive a single Republican Vote, (Senator Joe Manchin voted against the Bill).

CCFT COPE (Committee On Political Education) will work with other community advocates and groups to protect a Women’s Right to Reproductive Health Choices and other established freedoms that are in danger such as Marriage Equality, Voting Rights and the right for all students to receive an education.
