Over the course of the 2022-2023 academic year, CCFT reached agreements with the Districton compensation, pro rata, an MOU and various side letters regarding the 2022-25 contract and other contractual issues.The CCFT Council and the CCFT Executive Board have voted to recommend ratification of these agreements.

CONTRACT CHANGES AND SIDE LETTERS

Salary – Article 13 & Salary Schedules for 2023-24

The District and CCFT agree to the changes below effective with the 2023-24 academic year. The following changes will be made for the 2023-24 academic year. (Appendices F.1-F.4 will be updated to reflect the salary changes.)

  1. One-time payment for Full-time Faculty: The District will make a one-time gross payment of $1,500.00 (less required withholding for payroll taxes) for each member of the CCFT bargaining unit currently employed as full-time faculty at the time the payment is made, which is expected to be August or September 2023.
  2. Pro rata for the Associate Overload Faculty Salary Schedule will be increased by 1.75% (from 68.00% to 69.75%). The estimated ongoing cost to the District for this change in pro rata is $217,663.50, plus an additional $49,789.50 estimated for the increase in benefits. Note: pro rata continues to be negotiated independent of all faculty compensation.
  3. An ongoing salary increase for CCFT of 7.22% will be applied for 2023-24 to all schedules (2023-24 schedule links below). Note: all employee groups received the same COLA.

Associate Faculty Health Benefits

  • MOU concerning the expansion of healthcare benefits (medical & dental insurance) available to Associate (“part-time”) Faculty.   This MOU represents a two-year pilot program for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic years. 

Transitioning Librarians to a 185-Day Extended Year Contract

  • Side letter that implements changes to Section 11.5.3 Librarians, specifically the addition of a 185-day extended year contract effective for the 2023-24 academic year. 

History 23 Writing Factor

  • Side letter that added History 23 to the list of history courses that receive a writing factor in section 11.2.2.11 writing factor in the contract.  

Article 14 Health and Welfare Benefits

Side letter updating the annual benefits stipend amounts for all unit members.

CCFT and the District have agreed to continue with the 50/50 cost sharing model for covering medical plan increases, which is approximately 9% total, or about 4.5% each. We will continue with the same set of 7 medical plans (including Kaiser). The District and CCFT agree to the annual stipend amounts below effective with the 2023-24 academic year.

Full-time Faculty:

  • 14.2.3 Employee Only: $13,945.34
  • 14.2.4 Employee Plus One Dependent: $26,826.36
  • 14.2.5 Employee Plus Two or More Dependents: $37,658.82

District Associate Stipend:

  • Pursuant to the 2022-23.5 Memorandum of Understanding Between Cabrillo Community College District and Cabrillo College Federation of Teachers regarding associate faculty healthcare benefits, the stipend for associate faculty shall be the same Benefit Stipend Contribution for medical and dental as offered to full-time faculty, less the District cost for individual life insurance/short-term disability (STD)/long-term disability (LTD) since part-time faculty are not eligible to participate in life/STD/LTD benefits. The Benefit Stipend Contribution shall be based on the level at which the eligible part-time faculty member enrolls in a medical plan (i.e., self, self plus one, or self plus family (>two)). The District cost on an annual basis for life/STD/LTD is currently $440.76. Accordingly, the stipend amount for associate faulty are:
  • Employee only medical $13,504.58
  • Employee + 1 on medical $26,385.60
  • Employee + 2 or more on medical $37,218.06
